This page provides a listing of events of general interest to people in the neighborhood. Send posting suggestions and corrections to

2008
Easter Parade and Egg Hunt

When: Saturday, March 22nd at 10:00am (rain or shine)

Where: Line up at the corner of 190th and 44th Way

The Parade will begin at 10:10am with the Easter Egg hunt following at the park.

Once again there will be separate areas for different age groups. Be sure to watch for volunteers with signs identifying age group areas. The start of the egg hunt for each group will be staggered by 10 minutes so parents can watch all their kids.

LOOK FOR THE SPECIAL EGGS WITH A GOLD COIN FOR SPECIAL PRIZES!

Neighborhood Cleanup Day

When: Saturday, May 10th

Where: Dumpsters on 44th Way and another on 192nd

Back by popular demand! This year’s Spring Clean Up Day will be on Saturday May 10th. Take the day to get your yard ready for summer. Clean the flower beds, mow the lawn, lay some bark; whatever it needs. If your yard doesn’t need it, help a neighbor clean up their yard, or contact the Board about cleaning up an area of our neighborhood.

No room in your trash can? Don’t worry! We’ve increased space to 2 dumpsters this year. One dumpster will be on 44th Way, and one will be on 192nd, near the park entrance. This means we’ll need twice as many volunteers. Please contact Dawn Matte (425-747-0096) or Shelby Grieve (425-644-0909) if you are willing to volunteer to assist at one of the dumpsters for a couple of hours during the day.

Neighborhood Garage Sale

When: Friday and Saturday June 6th and 7th, 9-4pm

Where: Your garage

This is a neighborhood-wide garage sale that includes South Cove, Sammamish Beach Club, Greenwood Point and Meerwood neighborhoods

4th of July in the Park

When: Friday, July 4th

Where: South Cove Park

Ice Cream Social

When: Monday, August 18th from 4-8pm

Where: Meerwood Park

Concert in the Park

When: Saturday, September 6th from 3-7pm

Where: Our park, down by the beach

Red Herring will once again rock our park with great live music for the entire neighborhood. More details to come.

It’s not summer yet, but plans are already being made for the South Cove neighborhood 4th of July in the Park celebration! We’re lining up volunteers and planning the activities now. If you’re willing to help, please contact Shelby Grieve to sign up

Down Home Fourth of July

 

When:  July 4th, 2007 - (11 am to 2 pm)

 

Where:  Downtown Issaquah

 

What:  The Down Dome Fourth of July and Heritage Festival Kids, Pets 'N Pride Parade

Concerts on the Green

 

Starting July 10th, 2007

 

Where:  Issaquah Community Center

 

What:  Picnicking begins at 6pm with concession items available.  Performances from 7 - 8:30 pm unless otherwise noted.  FREE!

Alternative Transportation Day at the Market

 

When:  July 28, 2007 - (9 am to 2 pm)

 

Where:  Pickering Barn

 

What:  Come find out about electric cars, biodiesel and other hot forms of alternative transportation

Household Hazardous Waste Mobile

 

When:  August 3rd, 4th & 5th 2007 - (10 am to 5 pm)

 

Where:  Issaquah High School

 

What:  Household hazardous waste disposal for Issaquah residents.  Batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, antifreeze, oil based paints, thinner, solvents, hobby chemicals and more.  No businesses please.  Visit www.govlink.org/hazwaste/house/disposal or call (206) 296-4692 for more information.

October 6th and 7th:  Issaquah Salmon days  10am-6pm

 

"Spawn. Just Spawn '007" is the theme for 2007. 

 

Note:  There's something suspicious going on at the Hatchery!

 

With the finesse and class, albeit a fish spin on Bond himself, Issaquah will celebrate the return of the salmon with a world class party.  From Live and Let Spawn, to The Fry Who Loved Me, Issaquah will welcome our fishy friends in style.

 

The Issaquah Salmon Days Festival, presented by the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce, is the annual celebration of the returning salmon to our lakes, streams and downtown hatchery. This two day event held annually the first full weekend in October draws crowds of more than 150,000 people. Salmon Days features a weekend full of salmon and free fun, including more than 300 artists, the Foods of the World, a Grande Parade, 5k and 10k runs, four stages of live entertainment, the Field of Fun, salmon viewing, and much more.

May 5, 2007 Spring Clean Up Day

Back by popular demand! There was such a great response to this even last year that we’ve decided to do it again. This year’s Spring Clean Up Day will be on Saturday May 5th. Christmas in the South Cove Park Celebration
Back by popular demand!!!! Please join Santa and me for the annual Christmas in the South Cove Park Celebration on Wednesday Dec. 6th from 6-8pm. This is a great time to meet your new neighbors and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate and start the Christmas season off with a bang. There will be surprises this year and activities for the kids. Santa looks forward to spending some quality time with the great kids in our neighborhood. Rain or shine under the Kiwanis tent. This is going to be a fund raiser for Baby Corner of Issaquah. Please help the Issaquah families in need by bringing a package of diapers or other baby necessities.

Community “Yard Dumpster” Day – May 6th

What: Take the day to clean up your yard, or help a neighbor if they need assistance.

Yard Waste: Too much yard waste for your bin? No problem. We have a big dumpster so you can dispose of the yard recycling. This is great because you don’t have to go all the way to the dump!

Yard Waste Dumpster: For South Cove residents use.
(If you use a lawn service, they need to discard yard waste as usual – don’t use this dumpster.)

Dumpster Location: Near the intersection of SE 44th Way and 190th

Available 8:00am–4:00pm, the dumpster will be first come – first served, for yard waste only. Note: we are not accepting any dumping from commercial yard services or sod.

The Annual Meeting is held once a year in November. Come get up to speed on neighborhood issues, and help elect new Board members for 2006.

August 27th Concert in the park
Hosted by the Barrett, Batteiger, Hendrickson, Hills, Reiff and Sleeth families

Early December:  Joan Probola says once again, after a year hiatus, she will have a Christmas Tree Lighting Event for South Cove residents in Early December.  (Editors note:  everyone please thank her for doing this on her own.  Or contact her to volunteer to help.  This is not a Home Owners Association event.)  Details to come!

September 15-17th Multi-Neighborhood Garage Sale

Every year on the third weekend of September, South Cove and other nearby homeowners associations host a combined, multi-neighborhood garage sale. The associations will advertise our event in the newspaper and provide directional signage. Each resident prices, sets up and puts their wares in their driveway/garage so customers can shop 'til they drop

August 21st: Annual Meerwood Park Ice Cream Social
4:00pm-8:00pm at Meerwood Park

Each year, the Meerwood Homeowners Association and other neighborhoods work together to present a Monday night Ice Cream Social in Meerwood Park, near the end of August, since 1999.

   July 10th, 2005 Carnival in the Park

South Cove children of all ages and their guests are invited to come and support the Northwest Epilepsy Foundation "Step into Summer" fundraiser campaign on July 10th, 2005, from 1:00-4:00pm in South Cove Park.  This event is arranged by South Cove resident Debbie Batteiger to support her daughter Paige. 

Clowns Unlimited will be there with carnival games, carnival food, a dunking machine, blow-up bouncers and prizes.  Admission is free but games and food are for a small fee of $.50-$1.50.

July 4th: Fourth of July Parade/Celebration in the ParkEvent coordinators this year were Gerrie Hendrickson and Debbie Batteiger. 

April 8, 2006 Issaquah Arbor day:  a celebration of trees, nature and the outdoors!

March 26, 2005: Easter Egg Hunt and Parade

Easter brings a parade to the park for an Egg Hunt complete with a visit from the Easter Bunny.  Our celebration was the day before Easter.

Homeowners are invited to all board meetings held throughout the year, but be sure to make it to the Annual Meeting to catch up on neighborhood issues and elect new board members to fill any vacancies.
