South Cove HOA Board Meeting Minutes Wednesday April 2, 2008
Brian B called the meeting to order at 7:10pm.
People present: Brian B, Brian G, Dawn, June, Ryan, Shelby, Julie
Reading / Approval of March meeting notes
· March minutes were read aloud and approved
Treasurer's report:
· Windsor sent the financials via email earlier in the week because she unable to attend meeting
· Appears that 11 homes have unpaid dues
o These homes will now have interest charged per the bylaws
Architectural Control Committee (ACC)
· Neighbor dispute about an ACC request by another neighbor
o The board needs more documentation to make a decision
§ Need to have property survey done or be in agreement with neighbor
o Brian B to call Stuart to recommend HOA approve front bed portion but not in-between homes until either accomplishment of proof of property boundary or approval by neighbor
· June to join Stuart on the ACC committee
Rules Committee
· Arne Nelson’s email about the amendment concerning fences on the park
o June to talk to Chad and then respond to email
· June – proposed 4th paragraph 90 days of ACC approval of commencing work
o She is going to Carol to approve the language
· A letter was sent to the homeowner violating the leash law
· The problem island has finally been cleaned up thanks to the newsletter
· Both Van Orman’s cars finally gone, it’s been over a year, letters from Board were effective
Park / Landscaping / Entrances / Mailboxes
· Dawn met with Don the arborist about the big evergreen trees by Rod’s house
o Will Bayley recommended HOA get a professional report about those trees
o Don’s report should be done in a few days
· Neighbor expressed concern over the overgrowth along the path to Sammamish beach club
o Result: half is on South Cove side – Spencer’s agreed to clean up path along their property – half is Sammamish Beach Club’s – the SBC Board going to prune in June
· Signature going to apply organic fertilizer in the park April 11th or 18th
· Signature to backpack spot weed spray on April 29th – Dawn to post notification signs on mailboxes of homes along the park and park entrances
· Park looks great, minimal weeds
· 191st mailbox base, Julie ordered new one and rec’d it $160 but it’s 3 inches shorter than the one that is there, Don going to fix when weather gets better
· BB Guns in the park, 5 year old almost lost his eye
o Send out email blast and website the guns are not allowed in the park and there was an incident in the park
o Brian B to write summary and send to Brian G to post on website
o Brian B to do some research on issue
Beach / Tennis Courts
· Beach – Julie has a call into City of Issaquah to see if it’s ok to put more sand on the beach
o Julie spoke with Joanna Buhler from SLS and she said talk to City of Issaquah
· Julie arranged for pressure washing courts in late May
SLSA/Government Affairs
· Dawn went to the meeting in February
· She was really impressed
· If you see a problem in the neighborhood, you go to SLSA, get a committee together and fix it
· Issaquah downtown design was focal point of the meeting, there is planning going on about access and how to improve Issaquah
· A new sculpture going in at Meerwood Park
· A new state of the art Swedish hospital in the Highlands
· One of the big issues is beautifying the neighborhood
o Entrances of 198th and 188th need revamped landscaping
o Meerwood signs falling down
o No idea how much it would cost, but there are 800 homes and a lot of houses with big pockets
o Motion to approve SC interest, unanimously approved
· Big gravel area next to W. Lake Samm Parkway at entrance to Samm Beach Club, used to be an underpass
Welcome Committee
· Shelby needs to update the letter
· Two houses need to be welcomed
Events
· Easter event was a huge success
· Lots of volunteers
· Zach Hall will be Easter bunny next year
· Bunny costume has been cleaned and ready to go for next year
Upcoming Events
· Neighborhood cleanup day, some folks own Eastside Disposal, they may donate the container this year like they did last year, HOA pays for disposal, maybe HOA should get two containers on each side of neighborhood since last year the one container filled up so quickly, email has been sent to ask Eastside Disposal about containers, Shelby to follow up this week with another email, date is set for May 10th (day before mother’s day) delivered on Friday and moved out by Monday
· Neighborhood Garage Sale, weekend of June 6th and 7th
· 4th of July
o Morning fun run
o Parade
o Clowns, dunk tank, cotton candy, face painting, tennis tournament, lemonade
o Hot dogs and chips
o Ends at 2pmish
· Ice Cream Social August 18th
· Concert in the Park, weekend after labor day, starring Red Herring, 4 to 7 pm
o Sammamish Beach Club summer party starts at 7pm with a DJ in their tennis courts
· Next recruiting effort will be for people to man the dumpsters to make sure nobody brings hazardous things
Communications
· Website requests have slowed down
· Brian going to add the Comcast Pricing Dispute, Comcast trying to decide what to do now because they have so many requests for refunds from South Lake Sammamish homes, Comcast says they are going to give ½ price going forward
o Everyone who calls Tamar at Comcast gets a ½ price discount for 6 months going forward
· Spring Newsletter was a success
Other topics / New business
· 4447 190th Ave SE – cars constantly parked on sidewalk
o Windsor to put notes on the cars stating risk of ticket and tow
