SOUTH COVE BOARD MINUTES

May 25, 2006

At the home of Rod Putney

Board Members Present  Rod Putney, Randy Uyeno, Julie McDaniel, Don Meyer and guest Leigh Bangs

Meeting called to order at 8:15 PM by Rod Putney.

Minutes   Don read the April 2006 minutes and they were approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report

Rod reported from Windsor’s email an account balance of $60,737.12. (Combination of savings & checking accounts)    97% of the homeowner dues for 2005 have been collected.

Windsor’s research reported that Washington State law requires all homeowners associations with annual revenues equal to or greater than $50K to perform annual independent audits. We have until December 2006 to have this audit performed.

Park Issues

Leigh Bangs spoke about the organic fertilizer program that she has graciously volunteered to coordinate. Leigh has been working with an organic specialist, Julian of Hendrikus. Hendrikus has worked with the Klahanie community to coordinate their organic fertilizer program. Leigh informed us of a walking tour of the Klahanie community to showcase and discuss the merits of the organic fertilizer program.

Tennis Courts

Julie reported she has a $750.00 quote to have the tennis courts professionally cleaned. The Board voted to accept this bid.

Park / Landscaping

Rod Putney, Julie McDaniel and Julie Meyer (representing Don) met with the arborist (Will Bailey) from Signature Landscaping. Mr. Bailey felt the crack in the tennis court was likely from the existing Cottonwood tree, but that the trees looked very healthy and there was no reason to remove them. He did recommend that we have the rootbarrier installed to prevent this and future root problems.

Don asked for a vote on an earlier motion to have Signature Landscaping cut back the offending root and to cut back any threatening roots around the tennis courts and along the pathway. The Board voted to accept this motion, but Rod did add that he wanted feedback from Signature Landscaping first before moving forward with this motion and the cost of installing the rootbarrier.

Beach Issues

Architectural Control Committee

Two ACR requests were submitted and approved.

Rod reported about a South Cove resident who was asking for the Board to get involved in the removal of ivy that she was concerned about. The Board decided this was a private residential issue and Rod would call this person to discuss the details.

Don reported that the homeowner that had the vinyl fence installed had called him and apologized for not getting the proper authorization first. They said that they were having a full landscaping plan drawn up which would include plants that would hide the newly-installed fence.

Don mentioned that we should place an ad on the South Cove web site about vinyl fences not being approved. Randy asked Don to submit a short letter and he would post it.

A report was submitted about a home with a boat that is being stored without proper screening. The architectural committee will investigate and send a letter if needed.

Meeting was adjourned at 10:15 p.m.
