SOUTH COVE BOARD MINUTES
June 15, 2006
At the home of Don Meyer
Board Members Present Rod Putney, Sam Rosenbalm, Windsor Lewis and Don Meyer.
Meeting called to order at 7:15 PM by Rod Putney.
Minutes Don read the April 2006 minutes and they were approved as read.
Treasurer’s Report
Windsor reported an account balance of $60,335.48 (combination of savings & checking accounts). Two more delinquent dues have been collected. 97% of the homeowner dues for 2005 have been collected.
Windsor discussed homeowners who have moved away but still owe past HOA dues. She reported that she is researching legal solutions to this problem.
Windsor reported that we have one hardship case in the community that is behind a few HOA dues. The Board discussed how to help this resident and it was decided that during the 4th of July event the Board would coordinate a bake sale with all funds going to help pay the past dues of this homeowner. This kind of support will be considered on a case by case basis. Don and Windsor will coordinate this activity.
Park Issues
Leigh Bangs coordinated a walking tour of the Klahanie community to showcase the merits of their organic fertilizer program. Julie McDaniel was present for the last tour and Rod and Windsor will attend the next tour.
Rod discussed beach patrols this summer and recommended we post requests for volunteers on the South Cove web site. Rod will contact Randy about this.
Park / Landscaping
Rod consulted with Signature Landscaping about possibly using concrete in the trench to help prevent problems with the roots. Signature indicated that this is not necessary. Rod will advise Signature to install the root-barrier along the picnic side of the tennis court and to cut all roots along the pathway that are causing damage. Don will mark the root in question.
Rod said that a new water spigot was installed by the tennis courts to provide a water source when the tennis courts are cleaned. The new spigot is below ground and covered but it was decided we would remove the handle to keep kids from playing with it. Rod asked Windsor to watch for the invoice.
Rod reported that the homeowner concerned about the English ivy has contacted the Boy Scouts and they will make it a community project to help her remove this ivy.

Tennis Courts
The tennis courts have been cleaned and look great. The repair of the gate locks is still pending; Rod will consult with Julie about the progress of this repair.
Event Planning
Julie McDaniel found two volunteers for the Fourth of July activities, Gerrie Hendrickson and Debby Batteiger
Beach Issues
Beach Sand – Rod is working on the coordination and delivery of new beach sand.
Speed Buoys – Don reported that with the help of Tom Batteiger 3 speed buoys have been placed outside the swim area. One buoy was sold to a South Cove resident and one remaining buoy will be stored for replacement as recommended by the marine division. The Board thanked Don and relays the same thank you to Tom Batteiger.
There is one remaining speed buoy weight and anchor. Sam recommended we use this anchor to keep the floating dock in place. This summer we will add this additional weight.
Lights at the Beach - Don is researching the possibility of putting lights at the beach to discourage kids who hang out after dark. Windsor will email Don the name of an electrician she has used in the past.
Floating dock deck replacement - Don is going to get quotes to replace the decking on the floating dock.
Beach trash receptacle - Don is still researching a replacement trash receptacle for the beach area.
Barbeques like the ones used at Sammamish Beach Club were discussed. The Board likes the idea and will look into this.
Architectural Control Committee
Sam reported that two ACR requests were submitted and approved.
SLSA The SLSA meeting is June 28th.
Mailboxes Two mailboxes have been reported to have been slightly damaged when unknown vehicles backed into them. Don will investigate.
Welcome Committee Several new residents have moved into South Cove. Windsor and Chad will contact and welcome these new residents.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
Next meeting is at the home of Windsor Lewis-Gloy
Thursday, July 20th at 7PM.
