SOUTH COVE BOARD MINUTES
July 20, 2006
At the home of Windsor Lewis
Board Members Present Rod Putney, Don Meyer, Randy Yueno, Julie McDaniel and Windsor Lewis. There were two guests present: Will Bailey of Signature Landscaping and Julian Durant of Hendrikus Group Landscaping.
Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM by Rod Putney.
Minutes Don read the June 2006 minutes and they were approved as read.
Park / Landscaping
Will Bailey introduced Julian who spoke about the merits of the proposed organic programs.
The Board voted to approve the use of organic fertilizers in the park. Signature Landscape Services, our current landscaping company, will work with The Very Nature organic lawn and garden care to provide this new treatment, which will replace the current chemical fertilizers. They will continue the application of iron to control moss growth and weed controllers for at least the next couple of years, depending on the success of the organic fertilizers. The thought is that the organics will increase the vitality of the lawn and eventually allow a reduction of chemical weed control measures.
Treasurer’s Report
Windsor reported an account balance of $55,203.03 (combination of savings & checking accounts).
Windsor reported that she had located a real estate attorney (Carol Schmidt) that we could talk with about past dues collection issues and the current fence issue. The Board approved up to $600.00 for this legal consulting service.
Windsor reported the 4th of July event exceeded the allotted funds requested. Future allocated funds for events will be strictly enforced.
The SCHA has helped support the Meerwood Ice Cream Social in the past and Windsor asked that we again provide $500.00 for this social event. This request was accepted.
Windsor is soliciting pricing to perform an audit for the South Cove Home Owner Association. After this audit is performed she will recommend that the community waive the yearly requirement for future costly audits. This will require a majority community vote.
Tennis Courts
Julie reported the locks should be repaired this week.

Beach Issues
The remaining speed buoy weight has been attached to the floating dock.
Lights at the Beach - Don has contacted two electricians about lighting at the beach. He will follow up with the electricians.
Floating dock deck replacement - Don has contacted a contractor and will report back when he obtains more information.
Architectural Control Committee
Don reported that one ACR house painting request was submitted and approved.
Don reported that he is still working with Mr. Serex to resolve his request for a fence on the park.
Mr. Serex complained that local residents were driving too fast around his corner, thus jeopardizing his children’s safety. Windsor said she would draft a speed and safety reminder letter to all the residents on that adjacent corner. Don mentioned that a personalized letter should also be sent to the resident whom we personally witnessed speeding around the corner.
Welcome Committee
Four new residents have moved into South Cove. Windsor and Chad will contact and welcome these new residents.
Meeting was adjourned at 10 p.m.
Next meeting is at the home of Randy Yueno
Thursday, August 17th at 7PM.
