SOUTH COVE BOARD MINUTES

 January 19, 2005

At the home of Mark Southern

Board Members Present  Mark Southern, Don Meyer, Thomas Marquis, David Bangs, Jill Cyra, Rod Putney, Jeff Hertogs, and new Board members Julie McDaniels, Chad Hardisty, Sam Rosenbalm, and South Cove resident Randy Uyeno.

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Mark Southern.

Minutes   Don read the October 04 minutes; approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report  Jill reported an account balance of $54,942.00.  Thirty-five (35) homeowners have not paid their annual dues; Jill will contact by email.  Mark reported that there was only one homeowner who was unhappy with the dues increase.

Election of 2005 Officers

President:                     Thomas Marquis

Vice President:            Jeff Hertogs

Treasurer:                    Jill Cyra

Secretary:                    Don Meyer

Note: The board unanimously voted to appoint Randy Uyeno to the vacant position

for the rest of this year.

New 2005 Committees

Tennis Courts Julie McDaniels, Chairperson; Don Meyer will support.

Government Affairs/SLSA                               Chad Hardisty, Chairperson and the SLSA Rep. David Bangs will also serve on the committee.

David asked the Board to approve an increase in SLSA dues from a

                                                              previously-approved .50/year per home to $1.00/year per home. He

                                                              also asked the Board to approve the standing rules as posted on the

 SLSA web page.  The Board empowered Chad Hardisty to approve the       

 SLSA standing rules and $1fee at the next SLSA meeting.

Rules Thomas Marquis, Chairperson; Julie McDaniels and Jeff Hertogs will

                                                             support.  Scope:  Record new Bylaws and revise existing Rules.

Park/Landscaping Rod Putney, Chairperson; Don, Julie and Sam will assist.

 Scope: includes entrance islands.

Beach Don Meyer, Chairperson; Julie, Jeff and Sam will assist.  Scope: replace

                                                             swim area buoys and rope, replace planking on float, replace speed

                                                             buoys outside swim area, coordinate Beach Patrol.

Architectural Control                      No chairperson designated; Rod, Don and Sam will assist.  Need to

                                                             establish new fax account.

Web Site and Newsletter                  Randy Uyeno, Chairperson; David Bangs will train and assist.

Published three times per year.  Note:  Randy Uyeno has a friend who may be able to provide better pricing for printing Newsletter.

Welcome Chad Hardisty, Chairperson; Jill will assist.

Event Coordinator                            No chairperson designated; Rod will ask his wife if she could assist

                                                             with committee again this year.

Recommended 2005 Priorities

• Summer beach patrols
• Park sprinkler improvements
• Event planning calendar
• Update Rules and Regulations
• Address parking issues in front of mailboxes and park entrances
• Address park drainage problems
• Replace speed marine buoys outside swim area
• Address problem of teenagers in park after hours

Mark recommended an email to the community for soliciting additional priorities for 2005.

The Board will pick 2005 priorities at the next meeting.  The ideas listed are just ideas, not yet priorities.
