SOUTH COVE BOARD MINUTES

 September 15, 2004

Board Members Present Mark Southern, Don Meyer, Thomas Marquis, David Bangs, Jill Cyra, Rod Putney

Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM by Mark Southern

Minutes  Thomas read the August 04 minutes; approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report  Jill reported an account balance of $16,366.83.

Parks and Landscaping   (Rod, Don)

Big Trees Inc. has been scheduled Friday 9/17/04 to install the two approved trees. A 5 ½” caliper Scarlet Oak approximately 20’ tall is to be placed across the path from the cottonwood by the beach and a 3 ½” caliper Raywood Ash approximately 14’ tall is to be placed on the north side of the tennis courts. Rod will be available to direct the installation crew.

Renewal of the park maintenance contract with Signature Landscaping was reviewed and approved by the Board. Rod will coordinate the renewal.

Beach

The Board received an inordinate amount of complaints this past summer about rude and obnoxious teenagers at the park. The Board discussed the following options available to our community:

• Early season beach patrols to turn back nonresidents.
• Enforcement of South Cove residents and only their guests allowed on the beach.
• The South Cove resident must be present at all times to vouch for their guests.
• The South Cove resident will be responsible to control his guests and coordinate cleanup afterwards.
• A list of board members and their phone numbers will be posted at the beach in case a problem arises.
• Lawn sprinklers turned on at midnight to discourage the late night rowdy teenagers.

No decision was made on a course of action, but the board will revisit this issue prior to the summer season.

Architectural Control Committee   (Mark, Thomas, Jeff)

No new plans submitted.

SLSA (South Lake Sammamish Association)

Next SLSA meeting September 29^th.

Other Issues

The Board is looking for new board members to replace the exiting members. New board members must be nominated and submitted to the community for a vote during the November HOA meeting. A vote was held and approved to retain the seated board members as the nominating committee.

It was recommended that a special invitation to the next board meeting should be extended to new South Cove residents. Note all residents are always welcome, but new home owners are usually not familiar with the community and the South Cove Board.  This early introduction will reinforce the positive image of the neighborhood into which they have moved and possibly encourage them to be active members in the South Cove community.

It was suggested that all the participants be included in a brainstorm session about next years budget priorities during the November HOA meeting.
