Minutes: Don read the February 04 minutes. Minutes were approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report:  None - Jill was not present.

Parks and Landscaping (Rod, Don and Kendra Mills) :

Discussion was held about new trees for the park recommended by Signature Landscaping. Two types were recommended:

(1)   Horsechestnut well suited for the park – slow grower but grows to approximately 75 feet tall with large canopy of leaves. 2 ˝” caliper tree – cost $665.00 planted.

(2)   Flowering Pear more of an ornamental tree – grows to approximately 40 feet with beautiful canopy of leaves. 2” caliper tree – cost $465.00 or a 4” caliper tree  - cost $770.00 planted.

David recommended we contact Don McQuilliams of NW Woodlands Inc. about these trees and any other recommendations he may make. Don is familiar with our park and was very helpful when we solicited his help regarding the Cottonwood trees.

Mark asked that the park committee research the different trees and provide a few recommendations to choose from.

The Board researched the subject of changing from the current synthetic fertilizer to an organic fertilizer program for the park. Rod and Don spoke with Signature Landscaping about the current synthetic fertilization program and were happy with the program as it is. David asked that the Board do a little more research on organic fertilization program before dismissing it. The Board did agree to allow Signature to start the synthetic fertilization program, as it was time to apply the fertilizer in the park.

Tree Trimming - There are four park trees between Mark Southern's house and Brian Jonas' house (This is the entrance which opens up to 192nd on the west side of the park) that require trimming. Rod has secured an estimate of $450.00. The Board approved this work.

Beach Sand – The Board approved up to $600.00 to bring in additional beach sand.

Park Entrance Plantings – The board approved up to $420.00 to plant shrubs at the park entrances to discourage vehicle entry and to plant additional junipers at the 44th street entrance.

Tennis Courts: Don working with Doug McDaniels secured a resurfacing bid from Mid Pac Construction Inc. for $6,700.00. This bid was the best of three bids and Mid Pac comes highly recommended. The Board approved this work.

Pathway repair: Don was unable to get a response from Able Asphalt regarding the damaged pathway near the entrance to the park from 192nd street. He was able contact Northwest Asphalt Inc. who gave an estimate of $695.00 to repair approximately 7 sq. ft of asphalt. The Board has decided to try and cover this minor path damage with beauty bark.

Government Affairs/SLSA (David, Thomas, Jeff and Rod): David reported that the Issaquah annexation report has been finalized. Final decisions are still pending regarding Klahanie and Greenwood Point/South Cove annexation, but the annexations may be considered and scheduled separately.

Community Involvement Activities: The board has been discussing the feasibility of a South Cove Sock- Hop held sometime after the Fourth of July to help increase community awareness and involvement. The discussion continued on possible coordination with surrounding communities. The current 4th of July budget is $2000.00.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 pm.
