South Cove Board Minutes – April 21, 2004
At the home of Jeff Hertogs
Board Members Present: Jill Cyra, Craig Elkins, Don Meyer, Thomas Marquis, Rod Putney, Darin Web and Jeff Hertogs
Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM by Thomas Marquis.
Minutes: Don read the March 04 minutes. Minutes were approved as read.
Treasurer’s Report: Jill reported there are 5 households with delinquent HOA dues.
2004 Rules & Regulations: (Craig, Thomas and Jeff)
The rules committee is studying the covenants to determine the most appropriate timing for an open discussion about HOA dues and changes to help with the problem of delinquent HOA dues.
Parks and Landscaping (Rod, Don and Kendra Mills)
Signature Landscaping recommended two trees, the Horsechestnut and a Flowering Pear. Don McQuilliams of NW Woodlands Inc. said these and any number of the Oaks would be a good tree for our park environment.
Don and Rod are still working on a selection of trees to recommend to the board.
The Board is researching the subject of changing from the current synthetic fertilizer to an organic fertilizer program for the park. Rod contacted Earthguard (a company that specializes in organic fertilizers) and he will arrange for them to evaluate our fertilization program and provide us with recommendations.
Rod mentioned the soggy grass around the tennis courts encountered during the Easter egg hunt. He will investigate the source of the flooding. Signature Landscaping performed a moisture test of the park and found a few sprinkler heads near the beach that need to be replaced.
Tennis Courts: (Don Meyer and Doug McDaniels)
The resurfacing of the courts is complete and Doug McDaniels has put up the new tennis court nets. The board was pleased with the results. Mid Pac Construction was very cooperative about repairing the ruts in the grass they created with their heavy trucks. Don will followup with Mid Pac Construction about the warranty on their work and any recommended maintenance of the new courts.
Beach: (Craig Elkins)
Craig reported that the installing contractor will provide us full credit for the swim area floats and has provided some floats for us to evaluate. The contractor will also provide a new rope with the next installation.
Discussion was held about the floating dock and if we could find a better way to secure it to prevent rocking. A new ladder for the dock will be installed before summer and a second ladder that must be repaired or replaced.

Event Coordinator: (Kim Putney)
The board wants to give a big Thank You to Kim Putney and Amy Higgins for the wonderful job they did in coordinating the Easter Egg Hunt, and of course Rod was there to help as well!
Community Involvement Activities:
More discussion was held about a South Cove community event, which would be held sometime after the Fourth of July to help increase community awareness and involvement. Jeff mentioned a Chili cook-off might be fun.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 pm.
