SOUTH COVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Introductions:

This being the first board meeting since the annual homeowners meeting and the election of new officers, this meeting was intended to elect new officers, committee, events, and issues members. David asked everyone to provide some personal background, time in the community, and our interest in being on the South Cove board to open the meeting.

New members elected to the board at the November, 2000 annual meeting were David McDaniel, Susie Carnie, Kendra Mills, Ivonne Thurlkill, and Fred Riler.

Board Officer Elections:

After member introductions, David reviewed each board officer position, the position description, and duties of officers and committees. It was decided at the November meeting to defer the assignment of terms of the board members until the January meeting. The bylaws specify that three or nine terms should come up for re-election every year, so to get back on schedule we assigned one one-year term, two two-year terms and three three year terms to the incoming board members. Fred Riler will fill the term expiring 11-2001, Susie Carnie will fill the term expiring in 11-2002. The make-up of the board is as follows:

Treasurer’s Report – Mark Buick

The budget presented at the November homeowners meeting was approved as submitted at the annual meeting. 56 homeowners are past due with their annual dues. Mark has been working on getting these homeowners current. Discussion on any further action was deferred until February’s meeting.

Tennis Courts – Susi Tom

Discussed possible tennis lessons this Spring and Summer. Susi Tom and Susi Carney will pursue further.

Tennis Court Keys – Mark Buick

Mark will continue to have responsibility for tennis court keys (initial distribution as well as replacements).

Landscaping – Mark Buick

Maintenance - Our maintenance contractor for the past year has offered renewal for 2001at a cost of $50.00 additional per month. It was agreed that maintenance this past year has been very good and the additional cost was within reason for the services provided.

Trees – Cottonwood trees at the west end of the park were removed in December 2000. Some remaining

clumps of cottonwood trees will be removed per available funding and tree deterioration.

Newsletter – David Bangs

David will provide information from the website, layout, organization, and e-mail to Kinko’s. Susie Carnie and Kendra Mills will coordinate putting the newsletters together and mailing them once printed. Newsletters will be printed three times a year (prior to Easter, the Fourth of July, and Annual Meeting).

Garage Sales – Mark Buick

Mark volunteered to coordinate the South Cove garage sales event again this year. Mark asked if there was interest in having a Spring garage sales event, as well as the Fall event. David will seek homeowner feedback in his next e-mail publication.

Issues (Speeding) – Kendra Mills

Kendra discussed several issues surrounding speeding in the community. Further discussion at February meeting.

Issues (Playground equipment) – Kendra Mills

Kendra will take the lead and report at future meetings.

Welcome Committee – Ivonne Thurlkill

Ivonne will coordinate welcoming new residents, providing a packet of information about our community, tennis court keys, our website, etc. Mark will e-mail Ivonne with new names when title information is received.

Other:

· Mailbox / Sign repair – David Bangs

· Storage shed in park

Deferred to next meeting.

· Security

David reported on several thefts in the community, including car stereo, van broken

into, and several items stolen from an open garage (during daylight). Security

incidents will be included in the next newsletter.
