SOUTH COVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES

For Wednesday, March 15, 2000

(At the home of Chris Dederer)

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by David Bangs

Board members in attendance were:

David Bangs

Chris Dederer

Mike Quaranta

Brian Englund

Board members absent were:

Tom Goodspeed & Mark Buick

Brian Englund read the minutes from the February 16, 2000 meeting.  MSC (moved, seconded & carried) to approve the minutes as read.

President’s Report

As a follow-on to the discussion at the last meeting regarding the poor drainage in the park, David Bangs commented that one of the areas with standing water is immediately next to an existing drain.  It was agreed that NW Grounds will be asked to investigate whether modifications to that area would be possible to allow drainage via the existing drain.

David also reported that new Board member Keith Degginger has resigned due to the time demands of a new business venture.  It was reported that Keith may be interested again in the future.

David also reported that with the limited number of Board members, it appears the workload of Board duties may be too heavy in some cases.  There was a general discussion about the issue of whether to hire a management company for assistance.  It was agreed that in particular, assistance with annual dues billings, related collections and communications with homeowners regarding covenant violations may be worthwhile.  Brian Englund will investigate and bring information to the next meeting.

Sign Project- David Bangs

David reported that in addition to hiring Steve Meyers to install the new signs for the beach and tennis court, some of the signs require cleaning, and the support posts need staining. It was MSC to hire Steve Meyers to do all of this work at time plus materials.

Park Pathways- Chris Dederer

Chris reported that he has arranged for Totem Paving to remeasure and firm up the estimate for Phase II, the overlay of the walkways sometime between Easter and July 4th. The verbal estimate provided last year was for $9,000, and there is some chance that rising fuel prices may cause that amount to increase.

Chris will also determine the amount of clearance needed at the park entrances for Totem to get their equipment where it needs to be, and will then arrange for NW Grounds to perform any needed pruning of trees.

David asked about the pathway between South Cove and Sammamish Beach Club.  Chris will assess whether overlaying appears needed there, and if so, will get an estimate from Totem.  In that case, he will also approach Beach Club about whether they would want their portion done (at their expense).

Easter

Laura Black has volunteered to be the coordinator of the Easter event.  It was MSC to extend to her a great big THANK YOU!
